Saint Barnabas Lutheran Church, Howard Beach, Queens, New York

From our humble beginnings at a local firehouse in November, 1922, to our vibrant life today, Saint Barnabas Lutheran Church has found its heart in the weekly service of God in worship. Gathered here around the Word and Sacraments of Jesus Christ, generations of people have been strengthened and blessed for the challenges and opportunities of life. And from this heart of worship, we have discovered countless ways to put our faith in service to our family, friends, and neighbors.

Valuing the rich treasures of Christian tradition, crossing the threshold of the third millennium of Christian witness, we express today in our worship, teaching and fellowship, the faith first delivered to the Apostles by Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Saint Barnabas Church is one of 8,900 congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Geographically, we are members of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the ELCA.

The Rev. Dr. Martha M. Cruz joined Saint Barnabas on Pentecost Sunday, May 28, 2023, as our Interim Pastor. Johan Vizcaino is the organist.
